Welcome back to another review by Vaping BX! I hope you liked the last one. It was admittedly short and sweet but there is only so much you can say about a mod without going into too much detail about minutiae!
Today we are going to take a quick look at the Keel Mountain Vapor Kraken atomizer clone. As before, I will include a link to their website at the bottom of the page so you can take a look at this item as well as their other cool merchandise! So lets begin! (One of the things that I want to point out here is that this atomizer only comes as a package deal. What I mean is that to get this one piece you must purchase the entire mod kit. Now this may change but for now it is what it is.)
First, lets look at the above pictures and get acquainted with it's good looks! The two options for color are gold trim (brass) and stainless steel. I think both look sharp and classy but my preference was the brass atomizer. The outer shell as well as the drip tip saddle come off fairly easily and are there as much as for decoration as they are to protect the glass tank. Once you have that off, then you have to carefully remove the glass tube forming the "tank." It isn't easy to remove so be careful to avoid putting too much stress on it so you don't break the glass and injure yourself. After this has been removed we are left with the main body of the atomizer. It will have three "posts:" two negative and one positive. The included mini-screwdriver will fit them but I recommend purchasing a technical screwdriver set for the sake of keeping it easy. On a side note, I HIGHLY recommend that you not attempt to make the coils and subsequent wick yourself the first time. The Kraken is the worst first time builder atomizer I have read about. Once you know what you are doing it is a wonderful beast. But until then, do yourself a favor and watch as many videos on YouTube as you can and take it to your local vape shop to have them show you how to do it.
So now that that is out of the way lets assume we have built the coils and wicks and have filled it with e-juice. Honestly, this is the best hitting tank I have ever used. As a whole it gives good flavor and throat hit if built well. I personally give it a 9 out of 10 as far as tanks go. One tip I will give you off the top of my head is this: to avoid leaking when not in use, make sure to have the air-holes turned to where they are completely closed and don't turn it upside down.
The cheapest and best Kraken clone to buy by itself is the HCigar brand Kraken clone. The link to this will be below for your perusal. It runs $28.99 +shipping.
In summary, the Keel Mountain Vapor Kraken clone that comes included with their Caravela mod kit is a great budget version of the real deal and puts out performance up to par with similar clones and similarly priced atomizers. If you want a rebuild-able atomizer at a great price that does dissapoint, this might be the one for you! So as always, thanks for reading and keep on vaping!
