Welcome to the first post of Vaping BX! My name is Ryan Hurtt and I am the curator of this little website. Fittingly, the first product to be reviewed is the Keel Mountain Vapor's Caravela Mod Clone. Also, I will review the Kraken Clone in my next post so I can give due diligence to both products. However, they ship from KMV as one complete set, meaning:
1x Atomizer (Kraken clone)
1x Mechanical Mod (Caravela clone)
1x Battery and charger
1x Needle nose juice bottle
1x small maintenance kit
Before we begin, I just want to give Keel Mountain Vapor a shout out for this product. The price is currently at $49.99 and is a steal! They shipped fast and within one day of the order. They are located in Huntsville, Alabama and I will put a link to their online store at the end of this post. So let's begin!!!
The first thing I noticed about the Caravela clone was how sturdy the build was. I haven't had a lot of experience with other clones but, from what research I did prior to this purchase, quality isn't always a guarantee. So, just a note, be careful when purchasing other clones because they don't always meet up to standards or, in some cases, may not even work at all. But this clone, I can tell you from experience, is as solid as it gets. It uses one 2200mAh rechargeable battery that will need to be charged out of the box. One of the great things about this mod is that it will work well with atomizers, clearomizers, and drippers. What his means for you is that if you already have a tank you want to use or you want to try different tanks you will be set. Just make sure to do your own research and talk with your local vape shop to verify that the tank you want to use will work with the Caravela. On that note, this mod has a couple really cool features in regards to tanks: The positive connection post where the tank will connect to the mod is adjustable with a phillips head screwdriver and the negative/ground post on the bottom cap is adjustable with just your fingers. What this means for the user is they won't have to worry about the length of the connector on their tank or having rattling noises from their battery. Although this seems to be a useless detail if you only use the included atomizer and battery or a store bought one it really makes the difference between a good hit (w/good connection) or a dry/burnt hit (bad connection). I don't want to confuse anyone who doesn't understand these minute details so I will put it simply: The connecting post needs to make a good connection otherwise it will either short (because it is screwed to far in and creates a ground with the body) or you will have an ugly gap between the mod and the tank (which could allow foreign objects such as dirt and water to get in and prevent it from getting the needed circuit to heat the coils). I will have another blog post giving more specific details about how to set up and maintain mech mods, regulated mods, tanks, coils, and pretty much anything I can think of to help those of you that want/need the information.
So in conclusion, the Caravela mod clone from Keel Mountain Vapor is a bargain priced clone that performs up to the standards of much pricier brand name mods and provides ease of use as well as being very versatile in using many types of tanks. Thanks for reading and I hope you all come back to join me in my next blog post where I will review the Kraken atomizer clone. Thanks and keep on vaping!
